FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What grades do you teach?
Grades 3 to 12. That includes EQAO preparation for Grades 3, 6 and 9, all university and college-pathway senior courses, and IB and AP math.
Is the assessment really free?
Yes. It takes about 30 minutes, costs nothing and comes with no obligation. It shows exactly where your child should start and what to work on first.
My child is doing fine in math. Is tutoring still worth it?
Often, yes. Good marks don’t always mean solid understanding, and the gaps tend to show up in the next grade. Students who are ready for more challenge also benefit from going deeper than class allows.
Lessons
Who teaches the lessons?
Every lesson is taught by Sumit Mehta, a math teacher with more than 12 years of classroom experience. Your child works with the same teacher every time.
Are lessons online or in person?
Both. Lessons are available online or in person at our location in Ajax, near Rossland Rd & Church St.
What’s the difference between one-on-one and small group lessons?
One-on-one lessons are fully personalized to your child. Small group classes have no more than 7 students and are a good way to build skills and confidence alongside peers.
How long are lessons, and how often?
It depends on your child’s grade and goals. I’ll recommend a schedule after the assessment.
Do lessons follow what my child is learning at school?
Yes. Lessons follow the Ontario curriculum, or your child’s IB or AP course, and are matched to what they’re covering in class.
Progress and policies
How will I know if my child is improving?
You’ll get an email update every two weeks on what your child has been working on and how they’re progressing.
What if my child misses a lesson?
Make-up lessons can be arranged.
How much does tutoring cost?
Fees depend on your child’s grade, the program and whether lessons are one-on-one or in a small group. Call 778-893-5949 for current rates.
How do I pay?
You can pay by e-transfer or cash.
