Divisibility rules

Learn it By 2: last digit even. By 3: digit sum divisible by 3. By 4: last two digits divisible by 4. By 5: ends in 0 or 5. By 6: by 2 and 3. By 9: digit sum divisible by 9. By 10: ends in 0.

Example: Is 2,718 divisible by 3? By 9? By 6?

  1. Digit sum: $2 + 7 + 1 + 8 = 18$.
  2. 18 is divisible by 3 and by 9, so 2,718 is divisible by 3 and 9.
  3. It is even and divisible by 3, so it is also divisible by 6.
