Factors of a number

Learn it Factors are numbers that divide evenly into a number. Find them in pairs that multiply to the number.

Example: Find all the factors of 36.

  1. Pairs: $1 \times 36$, $2 \times 18$, $3 \times 12$, $4 \times 9$, $6 \times 6$.
  2. Stop when the pair repeats (after 6).
  3. Factors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 36 (9 factors).
