Learn it Find the rounding place, then look at the digit just to its right: 5 or more rounds up, 4 or less rounds down.
Example: Round 7,652 to the nearest 1,000 and the nearest 100.
- Nearest 1,000: the hundreds digit is 6 (5 or more), so round up to 8,000.
- Nearest 100: the tens digit is 5 (5 or more), so round up to 7,700.
