Area and perimeter of composite shapes
Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.
Learn it Split a composite shape into rectangles and triangles, find each area, then add (or subtract the missing piece from a bigger rectangle).
Example: A 10 m by 8 m rectangle has a 4 m by 3 m corner cut out. Find its area and perimeter.
- Area: $10 \times 8 - 4 \times 3 = 80 - 12 = 68$ m².
- Perimeter: the cut-out edges are as long as the missing outer pieces.
- So the perimeter is still $2 \times (10 + 8) = 36$ m.
