Learn it Mean = total ÷ number of values. Median = middle value in order (the mean of the two middle values if there is an even count). Total = mean × count.

Example: The mean of 4 numbers is 15. Three are 12, 18, 10. Find the fourth.

  1. Total of all 4: $15 \times 4 = 60$.
  2. Known total: $12 + 18 + 10 = 40$.
  3. Fourth number: $60 - 40 = 20$.
