Squares and square roots

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it $n^2 = n \times n$ and $\sqrt{n^2} = n$. Be careful: $\sqrt{a + b}$ is not $\sqrt{a} + \sqrt{b}$.

Example: Find $\sqrt{144} + \sqrt{25}$ and $\sqrt{144 + 25}$.

  1. $\sqrt{144} + \sqrt{25} = 12 + 5 = 17$.
  2. $\sqrt{144 + 25} = \sqrt{169} = 13$.
  3. They are different: always do what's under the root sign first.
