Probability of combined events

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it P(not A) = 1 − P(A). For two events, multiply along the branches of a tree. Without replacement, the second probability changes.

Example: A bag has 3 red and 2 blue. Pick 2 without replacement. P(both red)?

  1. First red: $\frac{3}{5}$.
  2. Second red (2 red left of 4): $\frac{2}{4}$.
  3. $\frac{3}{5} \times \frac{2}{4} = \frac{6}{20} = \frac{3}{10}$.
