Learn it To find a leg, subtract: $b^2 = c^2 - a^2$. The hypotenuse is always the longest side.
Example: Hypotenuse 25 cm, one leg 7 cm. Find the other leg.
- $b^2 = 25^2 - 7^2 = 625 - 49 = 576$.
- $b = \sqrt{576} = 24$.
- The missing leg is 24 cm.
