Learn it Like terms have the same variable part. Expand brackets with the distributive property (watch negative signs), then collect like terms.
Example: Simplify $3(2x - 4) - 2(x + 5)$.
- $3(2x - 4) = 6x - 12$.
- $-2(x + 5) = -2x - 10$.
- Collect: $6x - 2x - 12 - 10 = 4x - 22$.
