Slope as rise over run

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it Slope measures steepness: $m = \frac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}} = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}$. Positive goes up to the right, negative goes down, horizontal is 0, vertical is undefined.

Example: Find the slope through (1, −2) and (5, 4).

  1. Rise: $4 - (-2) = 6$.
  2. Run: $5 - 1 = 4$.
  3. Slope $= \frac{6}{4} = \frac{3}{2}$.
