Learn it An arithmetic sequence adds the same number d each time. The nth term is $t_n = a + (n - 1)d$, where a is the first term.
Example: Find the 40th term of 7, 11, 15, 19, …
- a = 7, d = 4.
- $t_{40} = 7 + 39 \times 4$.
- $= 7 + 156 = 163$.
