Dilations and transformations on a grid
Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.
Learn it A dilation centred at the origin with scale factor k multiplies both coordinates by k. k > 1 enlarges, 0 < k < 1 shrinks. Do combined transformations one at a time, in order.
Example: Dilate (−4, 6) by a scale factor of 1.5.
- Multiply each coordinate by 1.5.
- $-4 \times 1.5 = -6$ and $6 \times 1.5 = 9$.
- Image: (−6, 9).
