Learn it Scale 1 : n means 1 unit on the drawing is n units in real life. Lengths multiply by n; areas multiply by n².
Example: On a 1 : 50 plan a room is 8 cm × 6 cm. Find the real area.
- Real sides: $8 \times 50 = 400$ cm = 4 m; $6 \times 50 = 300$ cm = 3 m.
- Area $= 4 \times 3 = 12$ m².
