Learn it Distributive property: $a(b + c) = ab + ac$. Multiply the term outside by every term inside; when you multiply powers of x, add the exponents. A minus sign in front changes every sign inside.

Example: $2x(3x - 1) - 3(x^2 - 2x + 5)$

  1. $2x(3x - 1) = 6x^2 - 2x$.
  2. $-3(x^2 - 2x + 5) = -3x^2 + 6x - 15$.
  3. Collect like terms: $3x^2 + 4x - 15$.
