Learn it Divide outside numbers and inside numbers separately: $\frac{a\sqrt{b}}{c\sqrt{d}} = \frac{a}{c}\sqrt{\frac{b}{d}}$. With a sum on top, divide each term.

Example: $\frac{12\sqrt{30}}{4\sqrt{5}}$

  1. Outside: $12 \div 4 = 3$.
  2. Inside: $30 \div 5 = 6$.
