Evaluate powers

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it $a^n$ means $a$ multiplied by itself $n$ times, and $a^0 = 1$. Watch the brackets: $(-3)^2 = 9$ but $-3^2 = -9$ (only the 3 is squared).

Example: $(-2)^5$ and $-2^4$

  1. $(-2)^5 = -32$ (odd number of negatives → negative).
  2. $-2^4 = -(2^4) = -16$.
