Review: Linear relations: y = mx + b

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it In $y = mx + b$, m is the slope (change in y for each +1 in x) and b is the y-intercept (value of y when x = 0). Through two points: find m, then b = y − mx.

Example: Find the line through (1, 5) and (3, 11).

  1. $m = \frac{11 - 5}{3 - 1} = 3$.
  2. $b = 5 - 3 \times 1 = 2$.
  3. $y = 3x + 2$.
