Volume and surface area of composite solids

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it Split the solid into familiar parts, find each volume, and add. Cylinder V = πr²h, cone V = ⅓πr²h, sphere V = ⁴⁄₃πr³ (a hemisphere is half). For surface area, add only the outside faces.

Example: A silo is a cylinder (r = 3 m, h = 10 m) with a hemisphere on top.

  1. Cylinder: π(9)(10) ≈ 282.7. Hemisphere: ⅔π(27) ≈ 56.5.
  2. Total ≈ 339.3 m³.
