Factor fully: common factor first

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it Always look for a common factor first. Then check what is left: a difference of squares, a perfect square, or a trinomial. An expression is factored fully when no bracket can be factored again.

Example: Factor 3x² − 12x − 36 fully.

  1. Common factor 3: 3(x² − 4x − 12).
  2. x² − 4x − 12: numbers −6 and 2.
  3. 3(x − 6)(x + 2).
