Learn it f(x) is the output when the input is x: replace every x with the input. The domain is all allowed inputs; the range is all possible outputs. You cannot divide by zero or take the square root of a negative number.
Example: f(x) = 2x² − 3x + 1. Find f(−2).
- f(−2) = 2(4) − 3(−2) + 1
- = 8 + 6 + 1 = 15.
