Medians, altitudes and perpendicular bisectors

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it A median joins a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side. A perpendicular bisector passes through a segment's midpoint at a right angle (negative reciprocal slope). An altitude goes from a vertex, perpendicular to the opposite side.

Example: Perpendicular bisector of A(0, 0) and B(4, 2).

  1. Midpoint (2, 1). Slope AB = 1/2, so the bisector's slope is −2.
  2. y − 1 = −2(x − 2).
  3. y = −2x + 5.
