Learn it The midpoint of (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) is the average of the coordinates: ((x₁ + x₂)/2, (y₁ + y₂)/2). To find a missing endpoint, work backwards: x₂ = 2 × (midpoint x) − x₁.
Example: Midpoint of (−2, 5) and (6, −1).
- x: (−2 + 6) ÷ 2 = 2.
- y: (5 + (−1)) ÷ 2 = 2.
- (2, 2).
