Learn it Revenue = price × number sold. If each price increase of $1 loses some customers, write both as expressions in x (the number of $1 increases), multiply, and find the vertex: that x gives the maximum revenue.

Example: Tickets cost $10 and 300 sell. Each $1 increase loses 20 sales.

  1. R(x) = (10 + x)(300 − 20x).
  2. Zeros at x = −10 and x = 15, so the vertex is at x = 2.5.
  3. Best price $12.50, revenue (12.5)(250) = $3125.
