Multiply binomials and special products

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it Multiply every term in the first bracket by every term in the second, then collect like terms. Two patterns are worth knowing by heart: (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b², and (a + b)(a − b) = a² − b².

Example: Expand (2x − 3)².

  1. (2x − 3)² = (2x)² − 2(2x)(3) + 3²
  2. = 4x² − 12x + 9.
  3. A common mistake is to write 4x² + 9: don't forget the middle term.
