Problems with two right triangles

Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.

Learn it When a problem has two right triangles, find a side they share first (often a height or a distance), then use it in the second triangle.

Example: From a point 50 m from a tower, the angles of elevation to the bottom and top of a flagpole on the tower are 30° and 36°. How tall is the flagpole?

  1. Tower: 50 tan 30° ≈ 28.9 m. Tower + pole: 50 tan 36° ≈ 36.3 m.
  2. Pole ≈ 36.3 − 28.9 = 7.4 m.
