Learn it An arithmetic sequence adds the same amount d each time: tₙ = a + (n − 1)d. To find which term has a given value, set tₙ equal to it and solve for n.
Example: A theatre's first row has 22 seats and each row has 3 more. How many seats in row 15?
- a = 22, d = 3.
- t₁₅ = 22 + 14(3) = 64 seats.
