Learn it y = a·bˣ (b > 0, b ≠ 1) grows if b > 1 and decays if 0 < b < 1. It has a horizontal asymptote y = 0 and y-intercept a. For y = a·b^(x − d) + c the asymptote moves to y = c.

Example: y = 3(2)^(x − 1) + 4: asymptote and y-intercept.

  1. Asymptote y = 4.
  2. x = 0: 3(2)^(−1) + 4 = 1.5 + 4 = 5.5.
