Learn it Exponential: write both sides with the same base if you can; otherwise take logs. Logarithmic: combine into one log, rewrite in exponential form, and reject any answer that makes an argument zero or negative.
Example: Solve log₂(x) + log₂(x − 2) = 3.
- log₂[x(x − 2)] = 3 → x² − 2x = 8.
- (x − 4)(x + 2) = 0. Reject x = −2.
- x = 4.
