Learn it Solve like an equation, but watch the direction. Taking logs keeps the direction if the base is greater than 1; dividing by a negative log (like log 0.8) flips it.
Example: Solve 0.8ˣ < 0.3.
- x log 0.8 < log 0.3. log 0.8 is negative, so dividing flips the sign.
- x > log 0.3 ÷ log 0.8 ≈ 5.40.
