Learn it A periodic function repeats its pattern every period. For a wave that goes between a maximum and a minimum: amplitude = (max − min)/2, equation of the axis y = (max + min)/2.
Example: A Ferris wheel seat goes from 2 m to 30 m above the ground every 80 s.
- Amplitude = (30 − 2)/2 = 14 m; axis y = 16; period 80 s.
