Rational functions: zeros, intercepts and end behaviour
Questions at easy, medium and hard levels. Pick a level and get a fresh set every time, with instant feedback.
Learn it The zeros of a rational function are the zeros of the numerator (that don't cancel). The y-intercept is f(0). Far from the origin, the function approaches its horizontal asymptote.
Example: y = (x − 4)/(x + 2): zero and y-intercept.
- Zero: x − 4 = 0 → x = 4.
- y-intercept: f(0) = −4/2 = −2.
