Learn it The point of intersection of two lines is the one (x, y) that satisfies both equations. Find it from a graph, or set the two expressions for y equal.

Example: $y = 2x + 1$ and $y = -x + 7$.

  1. $2x + 1 = -x + 7$.
  2. $3x = 6$, so $x = 2$.
  3. $y = 2(2) + 1 = 5$. They meet at (2, 5).
